Project:
Idea:
This project on the Inventors Gallery of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office was established in 2004, the "Year of Technology". It presents an overview on the Inventors Gallery and will stimulate interest in the patent system, ie patent documents, the corresponding technical descriptions and drawings, encouraging also the amateur without thorough expert knowledge to learn more about this topic. The pages contain brief biographies of the inventors who have been honoured for their work and brief descriptions of their respective technical fields. For some of the technical fields you can also find more in-depth articles by patent examiners. The original layout of a selected patent specification is displayed for each inventor.
Technical information:
By 2006, the Internet pages of Federal German authorities will have to be barrier free allowing everybody to use the pages. For this purpose some requirements have to be observed regarding technical details and content. One example is the use of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for setting up pages. Cascading Style Sheets separate presentation from content allowing special screen reader software for the blind to purposefully access the content of the pages without difficulties.
Unfortunately, some browsers do not fully support these CSS requirements. This leads to a different layout of pages – particularly for older browser versions. For surfers using Netscape 4 or Internet Explorer 4, for example, pages displayed will have a reduced layout only.
Notes on the modification of the font size:
You may change the font size in your browser settings.
For the Microsoft browser: choose "Ansicht/Schriftgrad" (view/ font size) on the menu bar.
For Netscape browser: "Anzeigen/ Text-Zoom" (view/ text zoom).
For Opera browser: "Ansicht/Zoom-Faktor" (view/ zoom).
