DPMA once again one of the best employers for women

On 29 September 2021, Germany's women's magazine "Brigitte" once again chose the best employers for women: The German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) received four out of the possible five stars and is thus one of the 179 best employers for women in Germany.

This is the fourth time already that Brigitte, together with the HR marketing agency Territory Embrace, has honoured the best employers for their excellent contribution to the empowerment of women. This year, the study covered 292 organisations, examining their commitment to the four areas important for equal opportunities for women: reconciliation of work and family, flexibility of work, career advancement measures and the value attached to transparency and equal opportunities. The percentage of women in executive positions and the self-imposed women’s quotas also increased the score (woman power criterion).

This year, in which a special focus has been placed on the conditions during the pandemic and the issue of women in leadership positions, the DPMA has received four out of the possible five stars and again ranks among the 179 best organisations in Germany, in the group of organisations with 2001 to 10,000 staff. Flexibility of work and woman power are the categories in which the DPMA has scored particularly well.

"I am very pleased about this excellent assessment," DPMA President Cornelia Rudloff-Schäffer said and added: "We urgently need highly qualified women for our exciting and demanding work. This is another reason why a good work-life balance and highly flexible working arrangements have been among our key strategic goals for a long time." Currently, the DPMA is looking for engineers and scientists with work experience for its patent examination divisions at the Munich and Jena locations.

The study is a useful guide for women looking for female-friendly employers – throughout Germany and across all industries. An overview of all 179 organisations with top ratings, i.e. four- or five-star ratings, and further results and information are provided in the current issue of Brigitte magazine.
