Caution: Fraudulent requests for payment by e-mail!

Fraudulent requests for payment circulated again! In contrast to previous cases of fraud, trade mark applicants were contacted by e-mail. The e-mails sent in the name of the Office management of the DPMA request the recipients to transfer allegedly due application fees (up into the four-digit range) to foreign accounts. The scam e-mails are also accompanied by a forged trade mark certificate containing the logo of the DPMA and an imitation signature of the office management..

The DPMA expressly points out that these e-mails are not related to the Office. The Office does not send invoices or requests for payment - neither for the application or renewal of IP rights nor for their publication in the official registers.

Munich receiving service, including the cash desk, is closed until further notice. Mail items are accepted at the gate, cash deposits are currently not possible.

Please note that you must show a valid photo ID at the gate. 
 
Face-to-face advice and initial consultations for inventors are provided subject to appointment only. Outside our opening hours, you can use the automated mailboxes in Berlin and Jena. In Munich, you can hand in any mail and items at the reception desk.

Please note that procedural acts such as applications, requests, communications concerning proceedings of the Arbitration Boards at the DPMA and under the CMO Act (Verwertungsgesellschaftengesetz) cannot be submitted via e-mail; submission is only admitted by post, fax, using the DPMAdirektPro software, or in person to be legally valid.
