Opening hours of the service sections of the DPMA

If you would like to obtain information on site in Munich, Jena or Berlin

To enter the DPMA, you must present valid photo identification at the gate. Appointments in our search rooms and information centres on site, as well as initial consultations for inventors, are only available by prior appointment.

Public holidays

The DPMA offices are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

The following applies to the observance of time limits for submitting documents and for procedural acts: If the last day of a period falls on a Sunday or a holiday or a Saturday, the period shall end on the next working day (section 193 of the Civil Code).

All public holidays applicable at at least one of the DPMA locations will be recognised for the purpose of extending a time limit, irrespective of the location where the act required to meet the time limit is actually performed (section 18a of the DPMA Ordinance). The acts and declarations that are subject to a time limit can be performed or made at all three DPMA locations in Munich, Jena and Berlin in order to meet the time limit.
