Promoting climate protection with WIPO Green

The German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) is a partner of WIPO GREEN, the international platform for green technologies of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
WIPO GREEN is an online platform for technology exchange, launched in 2013. It supports global efforts to address climate change by connecting providers and seekers of environmentally friendly technologies. Through its database, network and acceleration projects, it brings together key players to catalyze green technology innovation and diffusion.
In 2024, WIPO GREEN listed over 130,000 technologies, needs and experts. More than 150 partners work together, including small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large companies that are among the highest-grossing in their industry (Fortune 500 companies). More than 2,500 users from all over the world work with the platform, and over 1,000 connections have been established via databases, events and projects.
The German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) is committed to promoting environmentally friendly technologies. Since 2022, the DPMA has had an expanded information mandate to provide the general public with comprehensive information on developments in the field of intellectual property. By participating in the WIPO GREEN programme, the DPMA supports companies and individuals in identifying, developing and networking innovative green technologies.
There are currently around 15,000 entries from Germany in WIPO Green. The DPMA will continue to deepen its cooperation with WIPO, actively support the activities of WIPO Green and promote the transfer of environmental technologies, among other things by raising awareness of intellectual property.
